Indian Police Want To Display Head Of Local Murdered “Witch”

Mannequin headsA small museum in a rural part of India is considering displaying the decapitated head of a woman killed over the weekend by a villager on suspicion of witchcraft. “I think displaying this head in a museum will create a sensation in society and could be helpful in preventing people from taking to such heinous crimes,” says the police officer. Well, okay, but how about displaying the severed head of the villager who committed the crime? That would probably be even more effective.

Penis Theft Panic Hits City; Accused Sorcerers Fear Lynchings

Sign of a penis thiefAccording to Reuters, “Police in Congo have arrested 13 suspected sorcerers accused of using black magic to steal or shrink men’s penises.” The police have apparently arrested both the sorcerers and crazed “victims” who have told police that, okay, maybe the penis wasn’t stolen per se, but it’s smaller and non-functioning now.

Rumors of penis theft began circulating last week in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo’s sprawling capital of some 8 million inhabitants. They quickly dominated radio call-in shows, with listeners advised to beware of fellow passengers in communal taxis wearing gold rings.

“It’s real. Just yesterday here, there was a man who was a victim. We saw. What was left was tiny,” said 29-year-old Alain Kalala, who sells phone credits near a Kinshasa police station.

Don’t steal penises, kids. It’s not cool. Nobody like a penis thief.

Poisonous Spiders Force Hospital To Close

Redback SpiderThe Baralaba Multi Purpose hospital in the tiny town of Baralaba, Australia, had to close for 24 hours this week to try to eradicate a redback spider population.

“We believe the best way to deal with them, and the safest option for staff and patients, is to have the whole building fumigated so both the spiders and their eggs are killed,” Ellen Palmer, rural director of nursing, said in the statement Wednesday.

Redback spiders look a lot like Black Widows, but with a messed-up hourglass shape on their hineys. According to Wikipedia, “Redbacks are considered one of the most dangerous spiders in Australia. The redback spider has a neurotoxic venom which is toxic to humans with bites causing severe pain. There is an antivenom for redback bites commercially available.”

75 And 77-Year-Old Ladies Convicted Of Murders

Take “Arsenic and Old Lace” and pull out everything funny, and swap out homeless men for kindly old suitors. Oh, and use cars to run them down, instead of poisoned elderberry wine. And the motive is money instead of senility.

Oh hell, just forget the play. Two elderly women in L.A. have been convicted of murdering two homeless men in a couple of cold-hearted insurance fraud plots.

Olga Rutterschmidt, 75, and Helen Golay, 77, lured two men away from the homeless community in Hollywood, gave them food and shelter for two years, and took out numerous insurance policies in their names.

The women then killed the men in staged hit-and-run accidents and left their mangled bodies in Los Angeles alleyways. After the men were dead, the women collected $2.8 million US in their names.

The article says prosecutors didn’t seek the death penalty for either woman, “but the convictions carry life prison terms without possibility of parole.”
